Google DeepMind said on October 13 that Gemini 4 Argon, its newest model, is now available worldwide. In the announcement, the company described it as built to "solve your hardest problems from start to finish," with frontier capabilities across coding, enterprise workflows, and cyber defense.

Access is not the same for everyone. DeepMind listed four routes to the model:

  • Everyday users get Argon in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search, but only on Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions.
  • Developers can reach it through the paid tier of the Gemini API, plus Antigravity and Google AI Studio for Ultra subscribers.
  • Scientists can apply for the top usage tier in Antigravity free of charge.
  • Enterprises get it through Gemini for business and in Antigravity.

The company also said it would give 10,000 scientists access to its highest usage tier in Antigravity, free for six months.

What else DeepMind highlighted

Alongside the launch, DeepMind pointed to research the model has already been part of: work on quantum error correction and algorithm design, a plasma-physics result it says challenges a 60-year-old assumption known as Grad's conjecture, and enzyme engineering, where it says Argon designed five lab-verified serine esterases in hours. In a separate demo, the company said the model watched a video and then taught Apptronik's Apollo humanoid to play cornhole.

These are the company's own claims rather than independent evaluations, so treat them as a signal of direction, not as proof of day-to-day reliability.

What it means if you just use Gemini

For most people the practical change is small. The new model sits behind a paid tier at launch: if you already pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra, expect it in the Gemini app; if you use the free tier, nothing changes yet. The useful habit for any model launch is to check which plan and which product actually include the feature before you plan around it. If you mainly want help with ordinary tasks, our Gemini overview is a better starting point than chasing the newest tier.
